What is MOSS?

The Maritime Operator Safety System is Maritime NZ's safety system for most commercial vessel operators in New Zealand. Operators work to a Maritime Transport Operator Plan and are audited against it. Maritime NZ's own guidance is the authority on what applies to you.

Do you write our operator plan?

No. Your plan belongs to your operation and is prepared by the people responsible for it, with a maritime consultant if you use one. We build the tool that runs the plan day to day.

Can it work alongside our booking system?

Yes. Trips and passenger numbers can come in from the booking system you use, so skippers are not typing them twice.

How do seasonal crew get set up?

New crew are added with their certificates photographed and their induction recorded, so they are ready to roster from their first day.
