AI fraud detection for hair salons.
The version of AI fraud detection that hair salons still use a year after launch.
Bookings, reminders and rebooking prompts handled automatically, so the chair stays full and the phone stays quiet.
What we keep hearing from NZ hair salons.
Salons run on a fully booked chair, and every gap in the calendar is revenue that doesn't come back.
Rebooking, no-show follow-ups, and client reminders are what keep a salon's calendar full without constant manual chasing.
From one-person trades to national organisations, we find the hours :)
The questions a public sector buyer asks, answered up front: privacy impact, the NZISM, where the data lives and how an algorithm is held to account.
*Illustrative example based on nine hours a week of admin. Actual results vary by workflow and business.
What AI fraud detection actually does
Pattern-watching AI for refund abuse, chargebacks, fake reviews, employee fiddles, and odd supplier invoices. With the right workflow automated, nine hours of admin a week could drop to about one.*
*Illustrative example only, based on 9 hours a week of admin falling to about 1 hour a week. Actual results vary by workflow and business.
Less admin.
More weekend.
No theatre.
What you get
If we build the right slice first, hair salons feel the difference inside the first month.
- Learns your normal patterns and flags outliers
- Daily anomaly report, not a constant alert flood
- Explainable scoring so you can act with confidence
- Integrates with Xero, Shopify, and POS systems
- No annual contracts
- No AI theatre
Already buried in admin? We'll sort the first workflow for you :)
Nine hours a week of admin is 468 hours a year. That could drop to about 52.*
*Illustrative, based on 9 hours a week of admin at a typical 80% automation rate. The calculator uses your own numbers.
Good questions, answered
What's a typical engagement length for hair salons?
Six to twelve weeks for the build, then a short managed-services month while the system goes from "shipped" to "owned by your team". After that you keep us on retainer if you want, or take it from there yourself.
Are there hidden costs we should plan for?
Three to know about: model/API spend (which we set up under your own account, not ours, so you see and control it), any new SaaS subscriptions we recommend, and your team's time during rollout. We surface all three in the quote so there are no surprises.
Can you work with our existing systems?
Yes. The default AI fraud detection stack we reach for is Claude, DuckDB, Postgres, Vercel, but we'll bend it around whatever you already run - Xero, HubSpot, Shopify, Cin7, your own in-house apps. The discovery week maps every data source before any build starts.
What does the Privacy Act 2020 mean for AI?
The same rules apply as for any system holding personal information. A breach that could cause serious harm must be reported to the Privacy Commissioner, who expects it within 72 hours.
Can the AI run on New Zealand-hosted cloud?
Yes, the options now exist. Microsoft opened a New Zealand cloud region in December 2024 and AWS followed in September 2025, both with local data residency.
