Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, which the browser then sends back on subsequent requests so the site can remember something across page loads. Most modern websites set anywhere between ten and one hundred cookies on a single visit, many of them placed by third-party advertising and analytics services. kiwidynamics.co.nz sets two, both placed by Cloudflare for security and bot mitigation, and neither used for advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking. This page lists each one, explains what it does in plain language, and tells you how to remove them if you would prefer. It applies to the kiwidynamics.co.nz website only; if you become a paying client and we deploy software into your own environment, the cookie behaviour of that software is described separately in the engagement documentation.

1. cf_clearance

This cookie is set by Cloudflare, the network that sits in front of every request to our site. Its purpose is to remember that your browser has already passed a bot-detection challenge, so that you do not have to solve the same challenge on every subsequent page load. Cloudflare describes the cookie as strictly necessary to the security and integrity of any site behind its network, and the cookie lasts up to 30 days. The cookie does not contain any personal information about you; it is essentially a token that says "this browser is a known-good human-driven session as of (timestamp)". You can read Cloudflare's own authoritative documentation at developers.cloudflare.com.

2. __cf_bm

This is the second Cloudflare cookie set on our site. It supports Cloudflare's bot-management product, which examines request patterns to distinguish humans from automated traffic. The cookie has a thirty-minute lifetime and is rotated frequently. Like cf_clearance, it does not contain personal information and is used purely to keep automated abuse off the site. We have no ability to disable this cookie individually while keeping bot mitigation enabled.

3. What you will not find on this site

We do not set any analytics cookies. We do not have a Google Analytics property, a Mixpanel project, an Amplitude workspace, a Hotjar account or any equivalent third-party analytics platform configured for this site. We do not run advertising pixels of any kind – there is no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no Google Ads conversion tag, no TikTok pixel, no X (Twitter) pixel. We do not include third-party social widgets that themselves set cookies (no embedded Facebook page plugins, no Twitter share buttons that load tracker scripts, no Reddit or Pinterest "save" widgets). The handful of social links in the footer are plain HTML anchor tags that send you to the social network's own domain if you click them, and only at that point does that network's cookie behaviour begin to apply.

4. How to remove cookies set by this site

Every modern web browser includes a setting to clear cookies for a single site. In Chrome, Edge and Brave it lives under Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → Cookies and Site Data → See all cookies and site data. In Safari it is under Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. In Firefox it is under Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data. Searching for "kiwidynamics" and clicking Remove will clear the cookies described above. The next time you visit, the Cloudflare cookies will be set again because they are required for the site to function.

5. Do Not Track

Because we do not engage in cross-site tracking, the Do Not Track signal that some browsers send is effectively the default state on this site; we behave the same way whether you send it or not. We have no plans to begin tracking and therefore no plans to introduce any cookie-banner consent flow – the only cookies we set are strictly necessary, which under both New Zealand law and the GDPR do not require prior consent.
