The honest read on AI for stonemasons in NZ and Australia.
When stonemasons ask us what AI actually changes, the first question we put back is the same one every time: which part of your week, if it disappeared, would change how you feel on a Friday?
AI adoption in this role is still early - which is exactly where the edge is cheapest to win.
By the numbers
Canada's overall AI usage sits at 4.37x its expected level, with Singapore leading at 5.53x.
Adoption is already well ahead of the curve, and the edge goes to whoever turns it into a concrete workflow first.
What changes for stonemasons week to week
Stonemasons sits within Construction, one of the sectors we build production AI for.
- Quote and schedule faster
- Draft variations and site reports
- Answer enquiries after hours
- Cut admin and H&S paperwork
If we build the right slice first, Stonemasons feel the difference inside the first month. AI adoption in this role is still early - which is exactly where the edge is cheapest to win Kiwi Dynamics
On the tools or running at scale, the admin still eats the week :)
Quotes with GST, consent paperwork, LBP records and health and safety logs: the admin every New Zealand trade business carries.
*Illustrative example based on nine hours a week of admin. Actual results vary by workflow and business.
How it works in New Zealand
We find the one workflow costing Stonemasons the most hours, ship a working slice into production in weeks, prove it pays for itself, then harden it and hand it over.
Good questions, answered
Can you work with our existing systems?
Yes. The default AI stack we reach for is Quote and schedule faster, Draft variations and site reports, Answer enquiries after hours, Cut admin and H&S paperwork, but we'll bend it around whatever you already run - Xero, HubSpot, Shopify, Cin7, your own in-house apps. The discovery week maps every data source before any build starts.
What's a typical engagement length for Stonemasons?
Six to twelve weeks for the build, then a short managed-services month while the system goes from "shipped" to "owned by your team". After that you keep us on retainer if you want, or take it from there yourself.
Do you do hourly billing or fixed price?
Fixed price for the pilot, every time. After that it's your call - fixed price per milestone or a small monthly retainer for ongoing iteration. We don't run open-ended T&M because it disincentivises us from finishing.
Can reminders follow the new WoF rules?
They need to. From 1 November 2026 many light vehicles aged 4 to 14 years move to a WoF every two years, and new vehicles get their second WoF at 4 years.
What happens when the Holidays Act is replaced?
The Employment Leave Act 2026 replaces it on 6 August 2028. Until then payroll follows the current Holidays Act, so leave calculations need to handle today's rules and the changeover.
